You need to declare your attic off-limits for storage.

I'd say the garage too if you're feeling bold. Our garage houses our cars, mowing/outdoorsy tools, kids' bikes and balls, plus holiday decorations. That's it.

As a general rule, if it's something you need so infrequently that you can just store it away and forget about it, you don't need it in the first place.
